Day 6

Caroline made a friend on the beach, Olivia, from New Jersey

This was our first "family" vacation! James and I loved spending the week with our girl at the beach! The first morning we were there, we had a quick visit from Uncle Ty who was on his way home from Hilton Head. It was great to see him!
Our first couple of days on the beach were actually pretty chilly. The wind was blowing so strongly that we wore sweatshirts in the middle of the afternoon. Caroline didn't seem to mind at all. She played in the sand, giving us "sand pedicures" and tearing down our castles. The evenings were my absolute favorite time of our entire trip! We went down to the ocean and Caroline ran and ran and ran! So we chased and chased and chased. There were TONS of jellyfish and we made the mistake of telling her they were dangerous. So the rest of the week she obsessed about the jellyfish, worrying about getting too close to them. But by the time Friday rolled around she was incredibly brave, playing in the ocean throwing her fish toys out to sea!
We had so many fabulous meals while we were there. We had lunch twice at The Ice Cream Cone where Caroline discovered the brightly colored Superman flavor. We also ate Baked Alaska with Strawberry ice cream and enjoyed 2 nights of Mud Pie with Coffee ice cream!!
James and I read on our balcony in the afternoons while Caroline napped. So nice!! We didn't have phone service in the condo and watched very little T.V.--a real vacation! It was an incredible trip! But as always we are super happy to be home!

Mother's Day Weekend

This Mother's Day was extremely special. Most all of you who read this know what a roller coaster the past couple of years has been for my family. James and I have recently decided to slow that ride, of trying to have another baby, to a stop. So this Mother's Day, the extraordinary blessing of Caroline was felt emphatically deep in our hearts. She is such a beautiful gift. She has the kindest heart and the sweetest love for life. I am truly blessed to be her mother! I am truly blessed to be loved by her father! I love my family and embrace the exciting life we have ahead!

Sandy's Birthday!

So this Mother's Day, we celebrated our fabulous mothers, Mimi and Nana. I celebrated being the mother of my beautiful daughter, Caroline. And I also thank the Lord for the little souls in heaven who will always live in my heart.
